Lawrence R. O’Leary, Ph. D.
Dr. O’Leary has spent over twenty-five
years of his professional career, developing and implementing
selection and promotional processes within Police Departments
across the country. Most of these included assessment centers,
emergency scenes and interviews. He developed the exercises,
trained the assessors from dozens of Police Departments in
the country. This experience has involved training fire service
officers from Birmingham, AB, Little Rock, Los Angeles, Miami,
FL, St. Louis, MO and Washington D.C. plus many others. As
a result of creating and implementing these assessment centers
and training the assessors how to observe and evaluate thousands
of candidates for promotion, he created a training kit that
will prepare the candidate for promotion within the fire service.
During that time he has collected the types of behaviors that
generate positive scores in assessment centers and the types
of behavior by candidates that create poor scores. He wants
to put these experiences at your disposal in the form of a
book that describes the process and how you can do your best
in your assessment center. He also includes in this kit a
series of actual police assessment center exercises for you
to practice before you attend your promotional assessment
center.
